Q. How do I avail of an Post free post?
A. An Post have generously waived postage fees for letters, large envelopes and packets up to 2kg.
You must write FREEPOST above the Address or in place of where the stamp should be.
[Items will be checked to ensure that the recipient address is addressed to a nursing home or Residential Facility.]
Customers will need to include a sending and return address on all items by writing on the back of the package

Q. How long is post to a Residential Care Facility free?
A. From October 19th 2020 until January 31st 2021, post will be free for customers who send mail to residents in Care Facilities across Ireland.
Q. Is post free from everywhere?
A. Post is only free if posted from the Republic of Ireland to an Irish registered care facility.
Q. Is this website safe?
A. 100% safe – You will see a padlock on top left of Website name so all your info is secure from Laptop/Phone/PC to Website. The site is hosted with “Hosting Ireland” who are based in Dublin. Your information is deleted after 10 days as we do not need to use it outside of any follow up you might need.
Q. Do I not need a surname?
Q. Can I choose a male or female to send a care pack to?
A. Unfortunately not as the system is automated and automatically chooses the next resident in line.
Q. I don’t have a name for my resident. It just says Male/Female.
A. Different Nursing Homes have their own privacy policies and prefer to personalise the items when they arrive in to the nursing home instead. Rest assured, the staff will ensure your care pack reaches the right resident.
Q. When should I send my Care Pack?
A. There is no set time. You can send now or at Christmas or as many times as you like, it’s up to you.
Q. What kind of gift can I send to a resident?
A. This is a list of welcome items provided by different nursing homes, you can of course come up with your own ideas.
- Little prizes with a value of around €2 are always welcome as residents can use in their Bingo games and other group activities.
- Magazines always go down a treat. Popular ones being – Ireland’s Own, Ladies’ Magazines, Farming, Gardening, Arts & Crafts, also The Farmer’s Journal.
- Crosswords, Suduko Books.
- Writing Paper or Blank Cards so that Residents can write their own letters.
- Arts & Crafts items like coloured card, stickers, colouring books & pencils.
- Playing Cards.
- Knitting Wool.
- Books on Irish History or Folklore.
- Soft Sweets.
- Chocolate that melts easily like buttons!
- CDs – Irish or Country Music.
- Lottery Scratch Cards.
- Rosary Beads.
- Sleepwear or Vests (any size S to XL welcome).
- Toiletries – Deodorant, Shaving Gel, Shower Gel, Shampoo, etc.
Q. Will my resident write back to me?
A. Please include your name & address inside the care pack as the resident may wish to write back to you. Please keep in mind that many residents are not capable of responding.
Q. Can I get more than four residents?
A. Yes you can, but you will need to do it in separate transactions as there is a maximum order in place of four at a time.
Q. I represent a Nursing Home / Care Home, how do we sign up to receive gifts?
A. Email us at email@example.com and include the Care Facility’s Full Address (including Eircode) and a full list of all your resident’s first names (surnames not required) and we will get back to you. If you have residents with the same first name then please add the first letter of their surname to differentiate between them.
*Your care facility must be for the elderly to qualify for Free post.
Q. We are a Scouts Group/Sports Group and we’d love to get involved. What do we need to do?
A. We welcome all groups willing to send care packs to residents of care homes. You can order resident names on our website similar to if you were an individual and send your packs to the resident names you receive. Alternatively you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for the address of a nursing home that you can send a larger hamper to.
